Motivation, wellbeing, and living with a mild intellectual disability: a Self-Determination Theory perspective
The aim of this PhD research was to determine the applicability of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in people with mild intellectual disabilities or borderline intellectual functioning. SDT provides a framework for improving individual’s subjective wellbeing, and therefore their quality of life. The results offered valuable insights into how best to support people with mild intellectual disabilities or borderline intellectual functioning to achieve and maintain positive subjective wellbeing.
