The Assessment Framework

Het-Wegingskader-Clientperspectief

The Assessment Framework includes a website with methods, practical videos, and textual information about taking the perspective of the service users. Supported by clear and concise explanations, videos, and easily recognisable icons, the healthcare professional systematically collects information about the individual’s specific healthcare situation. Using this systematically ordered information, the healthcare professional can determine, together with colleagues, the best course of action for the particular situation.

The Assessment Framework enables healthcare professionals to ascertain whether the care a service user receives in a certain situation is involuntary. Additionally, it helps them to better understand and consider the service user’s individual perspective and to increase the self-management of people with intellectual disabilities. The tool also provides accessible explanations of the different forms of involuntary care in the Netherlands.

Naturally, the Assessment Framework cannot determine which form of care is appropriate for each individual and their family. This decision remains with healthcare professionals, in collaboration with their clients and those close to them. Every healthcare situation is different and circumstantial.
