Questionnaires on working alliance in the use of digital technology

For high-quality care and positive treatment outcomes, the quality of the collaborative relationship – also known as the working alliance – is crucial. Healthcare organizations are also increasingly using digital technology (e-health) to support or treat people with intellectual disabilities.

Based on research, the AWVB has adapted two existing questionnaires on the collaborative relationship for use in services for people with intellectual disabilities. One questionnaire focuses on collaboration between support staff/clinicians and people with mild intellectual disabilities during face-to-face contact; the other focuses on collaboration when using digital technology. By completing these questionnaires, support staff and clinicians gain insight into how they experience collaboration both with and without the use of digital technology.

The results support reflection on and evaluation of the support or treatment process, and provide opportunities to adjust the content together. They also inform workplace mentoring, supervision, or peer consultation. Finally, the outcomes offer insight into the added value of e-health and can be used to explore one’s own stance toward digital technology or to formulate personal training needs.
