Idea cards that help to create meaningful interactions
Meaningful relationships are crucial for the emotional wellbeing of people. For people with profound intellectual disabilities and their support staff, it can be challenging to build and maintain such relationships. To help support staff, the AWVB developed a set of 12 idea cards. The cards help support staff recognize and appreciate meaningful moments of interaction – moments that form the foundation of meaningful relationships.
The idea cards are based on research
from the AWVB about the characteristics of meaningful interactions between people with profound intellectual disabilities and their support staff. This research shows that much of the work of support staff is about these moments of connection.
As a support staff, would you like to experience meaningful moments even more frequently? And would you like some extra inspiration for yourself or your colleagues? Then sign up for the free idea cards and receive one card per month in your mailbox, for an entire year. Every card contains a question that:
- Encourages you to reflect on moments of interaction that are meaningful to you.
- Helps to discuss these moments with your colleagues.
