Experiences of mothers who brought their child home at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic
During the first lockdown, some parents decided to bring their adult child with an intellectual disability home from a care facility. The AWVB explored the experiences of these mothers through interviews.
The study revealed three key themes behind their decisions: the indispensable role of family, the complexity of motherhood, and the need to protect their child from COVID-19. The findings are summarized in this factsheet.
