Experience research: Coercion in care
Coercive measures should have no place in the care of people with dementia or intellectual disabilities. Decisions about involuntary care are often made by professionals, but the client’s perspective is crucial. The AWVB’s Coercion in Care research focused on including this perspective in decision-making.
The results are summarized in two factsheets—one for care professionals and one for family members—and also form part of the Client Perspective Weighting Framework, an online tool for professionals and behavioral specialists.
